Wake up

Wake up

A Poem by Julie McCarthy (juliespenhere)

Wake up mummy
Wake up
I had a bad dream
The child cried

Wake up mum
Wake up
I'm hungry
It's breakfast
The ten year old demands

Wake up mum
Wake up
You fell asleep on lounge
After work
The teens said in unison

Wake up mum
Wake up
Your heart operation has finished
The child adults exclaimed

Wake up mum
Wake up
The family all sat around
As her morphine drip dripped
Her off to peace

Wake up mum
wake up
Her children cried
As they buried her ashes
Next to their dads

Wake up my love
Wake up
Their mothers spirit said
To her husbands spirit
As she joined him at long last

Goodbye my children
Goodbye
I've woken up
As she floated in peace
To her spirit' s final home

My views on life and death and stages in life as a mum
I hope they are as pure and simple as this especially the end or new beginning

Rose of many colours

Sad, but it is an experience some face.
