The tin man and the scarecrowA Poem by Julie McCarthy (juliespenhere)
Dorothy lives here
Or I thought she did once The witch went to Kansas The great oz got stuck in some farmhouse and learnt to milk the cow Toto the dog lives upyellow brick road The good fairy still believes We need her magic touch The scarecrow is still deceived The lion he started roaring Evening until early morning Uncle Henry and aunt em Still look for Dorothy every morning Tin man loves his oil And in it grins and toil And who is left oh the munchkins Run the earth And in Kansas they all dwell The red shoes lie in Hollywood And all who come To see them Know they still exist The tornado still does twist And toto the dog smiles And hasn't lost his gist So In some old magic film reel In some old movie storehouse Up yonder there On some forgotten street Where the dust has spilled and set You may hear their voices clearly And see the tornado dust rise high And see Toto in Dorothy's arms As she runs from witches arms And you'll see the munchkins flying high And red shoes lying neatly shined And you'll slip on tin mans oil And see straw on dusty floor And see lion hiding from us all So was it just some story After all? © 2017 Julie McCarthy (juliespenhere)Reviews
