Stars are born

Stars are born

A Poem by Julie McCarthy (juliespenhere)
"

Writing as I go in honour of some of my favourites too many to mention here these are a few

"
Jimmy Durante I'm sure you made everyone so very very happy
James Dean you eventually found your oil in that Giant slab of soil
And jimmy Stewart with your dizzy Vertigo
Carly who was the man that was so vain
Did he cause you much disdain or pain
And James Taylor I loved you then and love you now but
I still really need a friend
Or Orbison hope you met that Pretty woman that you sang about
And Redford with your eyes so blue
Do you recall the way you were ?
And Streisand with your golden voice did you really love to be that funny girl
Did you ever visit to Fifth avenue
And Poitier with your dinner there did you enjoy its silverware
And Dolly with your rainbow coat of many colours
And Bogey with your handsome ruggedness
That never faded even in that old African queen
And Sinatra with all that wonderful talk of New York New York
Oh Elvis I could of lived in your song love me tender happily till end of time untold
And Martin with your Amore there
The three Fondas I sure do love as well
And Betty with your bewitching
Eyes and face
I have admired you forever now
Marilyn with your hair that really was brunette under there
You were like a child so sweet
That Hollywood worshipped at your feet
Aaah the two Hepburn ladies
Words cannot describe
And Hoffman with your Mrs Robinson or Midnight cowboy I did love
Or the lovely Streep who loved Eastwood at that bridge so romantic a movie made my eyes to verily weep
And Baez with your Dixie song
Then Wayne with your guns asling and riding mare you were a man made for saddle there
Not to forget Liz and Paul dancing on some hot tin roof
Or Fred EStaire dancing around Ginger there
Also Diamond did you eat all that crunchy granola so sweet
And CEline with titanic song so deep
And Elton did you ever find that yellow brick road
There's COhen Cat and Dylan too
And Beatles and bee gees just to name a few
And Croce and Denver and Buddy alas too
The legends still alive and some sadly gone to places yet untold
The legends we love to watch and hear
The men and ladies of our life's golden years
They shall never ever disappear
As we watch them on clips
Like yesterday again we go back in time
A comfort reassuring feeling
As we look beyond life's cares
From our old easy chair
With cup of coffee or tea I sit over there

wow, i related to every single line....such memories...

did an English paper once on Midnight Cowboy---back in '69----but remember all of those great movies and songs.....and Carly's song about Warren Beatty....:))))
He probably did think it was about him....
at my age i have looked at life from Both sides NOw....and this poem reminds me of that.
