Seasons
As I get older And my bones creak Especially my shoulder I love summer and spring They are kinder to me Winter casts its cold hand upon us now Go away rain fog snow and ice each winters day Bring me back the long hot days Of salad and beach and summer drives And iced lemonade Bring me back those pink soft flowers of that spring And let me smell the roses as they tickle up my chin Bring me back the bbqs and the outdoor chairs Oh autumn I did like you as well a tad Even though you weren't as warm and glad You were still better than these cold Winter days that have dealt their icy hand Upon this ours and neighbours land So let me remember thee oh wonderful Glorious summers day Eating apple under old oak trees And being kids and scraping knees And running home to mum to say What's for lunch please Or going swimming in blue White Sea And getting up at dawn to see That sunrise of some new childhood morn That always beckoned me © 2017 Julie McCarthy (juliespenhere)Reviews
