Mirror
Mirror on my dresser there What can be done about this hair The colour was good three months ago Now it looks like the back of some old sow I see my face reflecting there My smile is getting strangely thin with wear My neck it creases when I look close up And my nose is getting little pink spots My eyes are blue but lined with age As I smile at my reflection gaze But what is life if we don't change And become much wiser with age I look at photos of a younger me And recognise only my dimples that I see The alternative to all of this Is to die quite young but that's amiss So to everyone of us here We are all evolving with our years Let's run the race let's play fair now For we are all in the same boat somehow So when I see my reflection vain I'll just remember I'm lucky to remain © 2017 Julie McCarthy (juliespenhere)Reviews
