Broken HeartA Poem by Autumn Reign
They were married fifty years, at least if you asked that's what they'd say When one of them left on an adventure, the other was surely on their way They were attached at the hip, you could ask anybody who knew their name During the battles through fifty years, their love always remained the same
It was an emotional winter afternoon that changed their lives for the worse They made the plans for the three speeches and put a down payment on the hearse Everything was planned to perfection, for she believed he deserved not a flaw The guests wide eyed in amazement, for they could not believe what they saw
A few days after the tears had ceased, more breaking news was revealed Their daughter opened the mailbox to find a letter that was tightly sealed As she read the words on the paper she couldn't help but fall apart Her father died of cancer, and her mother of a broken heart. © 2008 Autumn Reign |
