The Exceptional Student

The Exceptional Student

A Poem by Julia Ledo
"

The amazingly above the non existent average

"
Look at me.
Im the amazingly above the non existent average
Look I'm the eighth person with a 4.1
How DO I do it?
Position: Full Time Student
I haven't worked a day in my Life
Worker bee worker bee
Ridiculous queen
Demanding dream
Millennial screams
Into the void
Because really what could be wrong?
When I got all the answers right?
Fight fight fight
Against the tide
Of everything is just alright
Its not enough
Its not okay
But dont you dare miss a day
You might do something with your time
Instead of follow all the lemmings
In their cliff dive
Some of them know how to swim
And I've never known how to drown.
But is that special?
Or just a necessary drive
If I want to keep my head above the water
And make it out alive
But waste waste waste the day
You don't get much of a life
You'll be glad for it when you're climbing the ladder
That has a big "no tresspassing" sign
But look! Look? Look at me?
Im the amazingly above the non existent average?
I have a 4.1
"You're just like everybody else"
"Sell yourself"
I've become well rounded
Because they cut corners
And while all my friends
Are wishing for the coroner
There's every outlet saying
"You've ruined everything"

I struggle with Anxiety and depression. It sucks sometimes but the cure that I've found is to write! It's the most joyful thing that I do. Just write! It will take away those pains and hardships. I would also like to say that you have real potential in your writing and I am Genuinely surprised how amazing your writing style is! It was fantastic and I just wanted to let you know that you could even one day be a published author/writer if you wanted to! Keep smiling, keep writing, and most importantly. be you! You have a talent and this is a talent that all people should see and read!
I have a story here about my best friend called "The Blonde Girl", you don't have to read it if you don't want to, but I felt like I should share it with you. :)

Your friend,

yes, about what is good for all others is not necessarily good for us...and that stipulation, that stigma about grade point averages. Most employers don't pay much attention to that...it's the hands on...can the person do the job or just read about it in books and take tests and write papers...
does it all transfer? that is what is important.

relatable. I just read a really interesting article that Generation X raised their kids with the same idea of economic prosperity that they themselves experienced when that really just doesn't exist anymore. SO like every millennial thinks they're special and while NOTHING is wrong in their life, it still doens't meet their expectations... Anyway, great write, as always, miss you bunches
