Nine Children

Nine Children

A Poem by Julia Ledo

My body can make miracles
My choices can make mistakes
I can only pray
That I'll never lead them astray.
I can only hope to have pretty little children
All in a row
Nine heads in counting
Nine lives in the world
I can only hope to have daughters
That suffer little and are firm but kind
Who know that their faces and their bodies
Are enhanced by their minds
Not to feel less
But keep their heads high
Find happiness easily
And live not survive
As for my sons I can wish
That they will be gentle and sweet
And I can pray to God
That they're rooms will be kept neat
I hope they can grow in love and warmth
And learn to cherish someone they love
With respect for their worth
I hope my children will be good in their studies
Have a passion for learning
And a love for a capital S something
I hope I will be a parent that listens
A supportive ally
And have some semblance of authority
But I hope most of all
For a family

This is so sweet. Often, people want to start a family either to pass along the experience their parents have given them and relive it to an extent, or, to correct where their parents had gone astray. Sometimes both. Your children, all 9, would be exceptional because they're yours.
