Intrusive Thoughts

Intrusive Thoughts

A Poem by Julia Ledo

Just an impulse
A pull
A risk
The ever powerful "what if"
The alarming little blip of an intrusive thought
I could pull this steering wheel
veer off the road
Don't turn
Go straight over the side of the bridge
Would I press the pedal harder?
Drop the glass
Drop the baby
Break it
Break it
Break it
Touch it
Touch the flame
Look over the edge
Now jump
Eat dirt
Eat it
Eat the bug
Steal it
But you never could
Never would
Steal it.
Steal his heart
Take it
Take his hand
Kiss him,
Kiss him hard
Never would
Never could
Just break it
Break it
Break it off
Break him

ooooo potent words...yes, i have felt that urge before...or even though...what if i just did this?

luckily haven't acted on the impulse...but definitely there...there is such a fine line between thinking an act, and doing it.
