Play this songA Poem by Julia LedoA true story
"Play this song while you drive away
I'll stand here and wave Till you reach the end of the drive way" You say to me as the sunlight dims
She chases the car like shes chasing the clouds And I see her through my rear-views I wave and wave And she waves too
And you don't understand Or can really picture her But thats okay Because that memory is mine Im on the street Music up the windows down
And I shout out a "love you, goodbye!" Not sure if she heard
The song blares on And I'm reminded of midnight driving Playing songs all too loud As I take her home
"Play that song" we're on a quick errand And we drive into a crowded supermarket parking lot In a blazing heat from a beating sun But its okay, we feel fireproof
Escape from the city for the sun and the sand We drove to the beach at least ten times Our speakers to the max Once some girls even danced
"Play that song I like" When she hadn't learnt the name In a beat up car of our friends Red shag interior and cassette tape converter
I count the hours till we meet again For another rendezvous And theres never enough time Between us two
That summer I want to go back every night Every day was the best time of my life With our summer soundtrack setting the scene
Been a lot of places, passenger side dj and I It seems her driveway is a long way down A foreign place When she's not changing cd's at my right
"Play that song while you drive away" The pedals down My eyes are closed No control
