Fire and Ice

Fire and Ice

A Poem by Julia Ledo

Warmblooded is what they called him
Warm smiles
Warm hugs
Warm welcomes
But hot headed
A little hot under the collar
Racing for greatness in a dead heat
Swallowed in the flames
Irrational in the heat of the moment
Burning to prove himself
Ideas hot off the press
Full of hot air
In hot water
In the hot seat
Warm blooded they said
Too hot to handle

But I've seen him
That boy is frozen

oh my oh my oh my oh my, kick me in the throat. I love the dichotomy here. The ending feels like I got kicked in the throat. This was brilliant. Maybe I should be the one ASKING YOU where you learned to write like this. Damn, son.

Wow, this...wow. I...wow...I don't believe I have words to celebrate the genius of this poem.

Oh gosh, thank you.
oh yes, he gives that warm appearance at first...and we warm up to him...but then comes the hot headedness, the bull headedness...and the frozen smiles...the ice that he becomes when he cannot succeed immediately and can not accept criticism or failure...

to unfreeze...he needs to accept...and realize everything in life comes with time...the thawing can still happen.

really well worded poem...nice work.
