What I Would GiveA Poem by Julia Ledo
I could give all the typical things
heart and soul, all my love, but how many people would give this? I'll give you my fingertips to trace patterns into your skin and tap the call button on my phone to hear your voice Even though you know I hate to talk on the phone My fingertips to take the camera and take down the memories My fingertips to turn the pages of our love story Simpler things too Things that fingertips are known to do Tie a tie, brush back your hair, hold onto yours. I'd give you my handwriting for all the letters I will write All of the lunchbox napkin notes For all the times when speaking is all too much for me My handwriting for all the doodles that may end up on your hands When breakfast has been served And you haven't yet stirred And my fingertips brush back the stray strands from your eyes Speaking of which I'd give you my eyes To see you how I do. To show you how when you come into view Everything blurs around you and the only thing that's clear The only thing in this image that makes any sense to me is you My eyes that watch the way you say my name and your mouth does this slight little upturn that makes everything melt I'd give you my cheeks The dimples that appear when I'm truly happy the blush that burns with blood racing from your proximity My eyes conspiring with them because they know how completely how utterly I must be consumed with you What I would give Me in my entirety full volume unabridged unedited every edition because what else can I do?
