My Paper Thin Heart

My Paper Thin Heart

A Poem by Jukebox
"

Just what's left. Maybe one day it will be revived.

"

Let me explain, let me explain: deep down inside there’s this small beating thing; so pure and so bright, giving an open invite to all men that pass a few simple tests. It took some chances and got carried away past the starting point and wasting it’s time on a selection of boys who couldn’t return the effort.

It goes the same both ways in leading one on. Getting caught up in the moment and believing in a fiction that was conjured to be truth.

My once flawless heart now has been beat up and bruised, scratched, cracked, and torn, been weathered right through down to the core. All I’ve left to find is tragedy written on what’s meant to be more than just my paper thin heart.

Amazing writing. You have a gift with imagery and metaphor.

It's simple and heartwarming-- I love it!

You used few twice in the first verse [you can use another word]
And in the last verse I don't think you need "pale."
If you should decide to remove these I think your poem would flow perfectly.
