My Shortcomings

My Shortcomings

A Poem by Jenneka

Where do I fall short?

Sometimes I wonder.

If I was a beauty, would you still see through me?

And would you still love her?

How can I fix myself?

Tell me how to change my mind.

Well, if I was pretty, I think you’d be with me.

And leave her behind.

What have I done wrong?

I’ve given you all of my heart.

But my imperfections must change your direction

And tear us apart.

How can I show you?

I’d give you anything.

But you seem to be blinded, not seeing my mind

Only physical shortcomings.

The competition of girls for the same man is a serious concern.
Your poem nicely depicts the crisis.
Enjoyed reading.
