I'll Keep it TogetherA Poem by JennekaDo you ever even think of them? The pain you put them through? They’ll never be functional adults, and it’s all because of you. You’ve destroyed our childhoods, our innocence, and our strength For a couple of bottles, couple of bucks, and a couple of abusive skanks. They don’t know, they’ll never know the way you’re treating them is wrong, But do you? By the time you do, like me, they’ll all be long gone. My face"it knows your hands like the back of my own. I’ve grown up looking up to the frivolous examples you’ve shown. I want to give them the world, full of chances you never gave me Sometimes I wonder if you hate them as much as you hate me. We hurt, your sons and daughters on their knees in submission I’ll take them in, let them hide, with no charge of admission. Find it in your heart, do you have a heart? I’ll just assume that you don’t. Don’t mistreat them like you did me, when our house was a home. They’ve got a future ahead, involving you or not, And I’ll be there, because in the end, I know I’m all they’ve got. © 2012 Jenneka |
