Dream Rocket

Dream Rocket

A Poem by Jenneka

We all have that dream.

That hunger for something.

The want that we’ll do anything to appease.

The dreams are always too big to carry in our child-like hands,

Too far away to reach from where we stand.

We’re waiting. Watching.

Looking for an answer that won’t be coming, but from within.

How do we reach these stars of fantasy, and how do we keep them alive once they’re in our grips?

No idea from the common dreamer, so we sit.

Still waiting.

Dreaming bigger dreams, about when we catch our dreams.

I’m building a rocket. A dream ship, larger than any fantasy star.

I won’t sit and wait for an answer from anyone but myself.

My ship is held together with the strong bolts of hope, and protected by myself personally.

I build my rocket with my own two hands, not needing anyone to tell me where to put my hopes.

I have followers.

Fellow dreamers who’ve found their answer within me,

And we bind ourselves together with a bond only made through our fantasies.

Together, we build this vessel to reach our dreams.

Not only my will, but theirs as well, intertwined into something beautiful.

We clasp our hopes in hand, driving them into my fantasy rocket.

This ship will not break, will not falter, and will never fall.

Our blood, sweat and tears are our motivation.

Blisters cover our hands.

But we feel no pain.

We feel the anticipation within our hearts, discovering something for the sake of the dreamer.

We are exhausted.

But our imaginations keep us going.

Dreaming of dreams with our dreams in our possession.

At first it was a hope, then a rocket, then obsession.

We won’t give up.

Our hands, they bleed. But our hearts still beat, and shine for the glory of knowing.

I won’t give up.

My hands, they bleed. But my heart still beats, and waits to see where I am going.

I won’t let this vessel be grounded forever,

She will fly higher than the imaginations of the common dreamer whose only ambition is to wait for their answers.

She will take me to my wildest daydreams, the little things that no one ever imagined but me.

I will kiss my dreams.

I will know what it feels like to taste the sweet splendor of success.

I will capture them, and keep them with me forever.

I will take my followers to their dreams.

We will follow them, and capture them, and make them a reality.

We have all the time in the world, and we’ll need it.

Because we all have that dream.
