Moments Like Those

Moments Like Those

A Poem by Jules

I don't remember a time when
I can't think of a day before
I wonder if it awaited me
all along sitting beyond my door

A moment ago I felt laughter
I broke today and claimed innocence
I am waiting to see all of it
Waiting to listen to significance

I'm going to touch the ground
and then rise beyond gray
When I am awake I'll draw
All the beautiful things I want to say

I need pillows of comfort
and handmade quilts of love
In order to remain positive
Without failure when I am done

The sheep I count
Only begin the night
They'll fall asleep before
I can even start this fight

I decide against this
I cannot fathom reality
I break the course
And dwell on humanity

Steady she goes remember
The course isn't straight
She'll break long after
She has made you wait

The asylum she bed
Was the strength she endured
Beyond all reasoning and
Stopped listening to the words
