The Nest

The Nest

A Poem by HB Harrison

A bird flew across the tree and into another nest,
He meant well but he could feel detest,
He kept his head down and continued to peck away
And retrieve eggs all-day.

The bird was an eager beaver
But the other wanted him to leave here.
But he stayed
And he made
That mistake.

The other birds met up and decided
He must go.
He didn’t try to fight it
He flew away.

But now missing this diligent fella
They were used to his work and contributions
For invading these birds' cella
Now left alone from their own prosecutions.

Yes! Isn't it the way, though? I think it goes...

"You don't know what you've got till it's gone!"

I enjoyed reading and the point to this piece! Thanks for posting!

Thank you for the reply! I'm glad you enjoyed, that's my goal of course
A beautiful metaphor. A bird trying to fit in, and despite his greatest freedom in the form of wings, let others decide about his destiny. Like us, people, the bird also made that mistake.
