Courting

Courting

A Poem by Juan Victor

If I should be bold:
then I would've talked,
then I would've said,
and then I would've relayed
what message I had from the hearth of my being.
Regardless of social graces:
I would've expected,
I would've assumed,
and I would've concluded
that whatever it is that you have said to deny me
is temptation to pursue.
This trifled moments suggested that you are not worthy for my advances, yet
your eyes object to the urges of your conservative consciousness.
How funny is it that we disobeyed ourselves.
If we be incompatible then:
we are dysfunctional,
we are apprehensive,
we are awkward,
yet we thrive in the mysteries of intimacy.
For our bond should not be requited with hostility and forgetfulness, but a cherished sense contemplation.
If we have not tried then:
we would not know,
we would not have realized,
and we would not have loved
the impressions of our choices on the beach of our life.
