Skipping along with the mourners

Skipping along with the mourners

A Poem by Jon Roggie

Just in case I can't afford it,
 or move along unexpectedly,
I ask only one thing.

Skip along with the mourners.

Look around while you do this,
and you will see many things.

Outrage,
 confusion,
   a quickly covered smile.

Some of them are in on the joke.

Skip along,
 as if only passing by.
Maybe a kiss,
  and a wave.

I will send one back.

I wish my eulogy to be read by a friend with Tourettes, every sentence expletive filled, these words hollered rather than quietly spoken. To follow a BBQ, beer and dancing, the evening to end with at least one drunken scuffle :))
