Pass the stone around

Pass the stone around

A Poem by Jon Roggie

We gather together,
 trying not to talk.
Touch of anonymity.

"Who starts?"

Like the drinker's group,
 touch of hesitation.

"give it to me."

Little thing
 quartz, with tiger's eye
the opal misty

"Tune the violin,
  check the snare,
a touch of music is what we need...."

Pause for a moment.

"Just say it!"
  Voice from the background.

Fine.

"Here."

"Let us sing a song,
 and make the other wonder."

"Why not wander?"

Keeping the peace.
Some make it a tough reach.
Critics.

Stroll to the other side of the circle,
place my hand on a shoulder,
 face stoic.
 Friend hiding a smile.

"Speaking words of wisdom,
  let it be."

Now.
  What shall we sing next?

I love the Beatles too Jon. Let It Be is one of my favourites. Like the way you have worked this into your poem. Poetry and music. Two of the finer things in life. Shared with friends, even better.
