California burning

California burning

A Poem by Jon Roggie

The sun shifts between orange and red,
 at least when it sets.

Miles away,
and the smoke changes the view.

Planes flying overhead,
and you can tell certain sounds.

Helicopters loaded,
 also a different tone.

I worry about friends,
never sure if they are in the path.

   You okay Barleygirl?

Miles away,
 and it changes the sun.

Pretty to watch,
unless you know what is adding the color.

dear Jon.... perhaps we let freedom of speech become freedom to burn...
If this too could be set by someone... So tragic and yes we worry about our
Barleygirl. We love to sit in front of a fireplace, but not have homes destroyed.
It is remarkable to share your feelings in words. truly, Pat
