I blame myself.
Listening to the two of them. I lose my patience. Might as well share a flicker. Blink my eyes. I did wait until we were stopped. Reach over the seat, and turn off the engine. I admit the looks on their faces is worth what I know is coming. "You drive too slow Manatua." Open my door, and step outside. Look at the car. I still managed to keep it in the lines. Ignoring the talk of reckless nature, I walk up the steps on Ash. It is daytime, so a minor is allowed. "Phil! Table for three!" You have to love a bartender who remembers you. Handing me a pint of Bass, he asks if I would like the room upstairs. He even raises an eyebrow. Everyone I know. We don't share a single word. A wink turns into a conversation. "That would be nice. Privacy would be appreciated." "Clam chowder?" This goes back to remembering things. "Better make it four, and extra oyster crackers. Add a pitcher, and a Pepsi if you have one." Phil grins. "All she wanted was a Pepsi." I have left a trail of tales. Bow to my bristling companions, and point the way to a haunted room.
