Tala goes on a roadtripA Story by Jon Roggie
First,
I am not alone. Manatua and Fesili sit in the front seat. I am stuffed in the back, and they won't even let me touch the radio. Second, after the first, you might think I am sulking. Cue Ed McMahon. I blame Manatua if you catch that one. "Why can't I drive?" I hate it when I whine. "It is my car!" Manatua looks into the rearview mirror, and it even starts frosting. "Do you remember the last time you drove?" I continue my sulk, but unable to restrain myself I mutter, "That's your job..." Fesili giggles. Icicles are forming on the mirror. Manatua rolls along. "We wound up in Guam." I admit I had let that one slip my mind. I still blame my free-spirited nature. Trips are boring if you don't take an unexpected turn. "We were supposed to be going to Winslow." Fesili looks back with a grin on her face. No! She wouldn't. "Was he supposed to be standing on a corner?" They both laugh. I let the sulk grow. I never should have never let her listen to the Eagles.
