Structural Damage

If anyone knows how to be honest with a doctor,

 please let me know.

I try,

 and see their eyes glaze over.

How do you explain a ten percent increase of tremor in the left hand?

I prefer to cook,

 but I also have a few classes in my background.

I actually enjoyed math.

Medications prescribed don't do it.

  They just dull the feeling.

I do better without.

Give me a x-ray,

 and let me see.

Let me know if it is only sore muscles,

 but don't go by your technical guess.

Now,

 some might think the math bit was out of place,

  and I am losing my way.

I only know I can barely pick up a ten pound grocery bag,

  and they want me to take muscle depressants.

Rough week,

 and I get to see the doctor on Monday.

You get your 10 minutes, they must often guess, then it's out of the door and next one in. May as well self diagnose, internet doctors we all will be one day.

To be honest, the medical people have been good. Consistent on treatment. As far as self diagnose, I remember a test from my psychology class. If we had went by the results most of us would have been dead!

How do you explain your life in so few words, to a harassed doctor, who is too busy typing to look at you, that it may just be aches and pains to them, but it is a serious problem for the person who feels it.
My parents never complained about pain once, despite crippling arthritis, heart attacks and strokes, but I find complaing loudly, pointing to it and shouting ouch usually does the trick.
Yet politeness gets in the way so often. I think that all the statistics are wrong, cancer or heart disease are not the biggest killers, silence is.

Yes, I will admit I was whining. I want a simple answer.
Healthcare is rarely simple.
I agree with you about silence.
It took a car accident to get me back in for a checkup.
Plus,
I know when the blood work comes back,
I will be told no more steaks!

Most likely Jon. It took my doc over five years to get my bp low enough so that I wouldnt die of a heart attack when someone tutted loudly. Turned out it was quite simple in the end, pump me full of drugs until I couldnt complain any more. I could have done that without qualifications.

From the x-rays, it seems I may be done in by arthritis of the neck. Shaking my head has came back to haunt me.

Sympathies Jon. I always wondered what it felt like, for my mum to show pain, as she let out a sigh and held the offending part. I shouldnt have wondered so much, got it in my right foot and both hands now. I try to be curious about medical matters no more.
