We shouldn't need them

We shouldn't need them

A Story by Jon Roggie

I look around,
 and I admit it.
I don't like all of the movements.

I was raised in a time of civil destruction.
The government was corrupt.
Various groups reacted in violent ways.

I don't know how many anti-groups I have heard of in my life.

The thing is we should have learned.

I was seven in 1974,
 and I can still remember.
We had three channels on the tv,
so we heard all of it.
I was ticked off because the Watergate hearings shut down my cartoons.

At this point,
it is all another stale repeat,
and I wonder if anyone learned anything.

Sad statement going back through the centuries.

At my most cynical,
it is the natural motive for mankind.
Exploit who ever you can.

We should have moved past this.
Instead of joining together,
 we consistently form different groups.

Each saying they had more harm done.

Then,
 the arguments start again.

Echoes through the years.

Time to be a hermit.

Really good expression of plenty emotions I think most people feel at this time.

I wonder how things would be if people could hold a civil conversation.
Your jagged statements express little flashes of the futility I'm often feeling these days, right before I tell myself that we all need to keep up the resistance, becuz apathy will kill our freedom. I always think about the way different groups each think they are getting screwed, but in truth, we're all getting screwed (as long as we are not rich or running some major company). I really do crave to be completely disengaged and my hermit tendencies have been trending *wink! wink!* Fondly, Margie
