Beetle in the summer grass

Beetle in the summer grass

A Story by Jon Roggie

For those of you who know me,
 I noticed something.

For those who don't know me,
 I notice things.

Dogs are being difficult.
 I can understand it.
It is over a hundred outside.
They don't want to go out there.

This leads to the problem.

I have to go outside,
  and sit.

I understand.
They don't want to be left outside.

So,
 I sit.

This goes back to the noticing thing.

While letting the dogs wander,
 I watch a beetle.

Wandering through the dead leaves of grass,
 dodging open areas.
Hiding,
 but living.

Brings a smile to my face.

This little bug is surviving.

Finding something...
