Random

A Poem by Jon Roggie

Each mind is a little different,
and how they work can be unique.

In my case,
  I am a touch nonlinear.
Somehow,
 seemingly random thoughts match.

I probably would have been committed,
but I was born in the 60's,
Got a bit of slack.

Plus,
 I had good teachers.

They noticed I had stepped ahead.

I admit being allowed to make gunpowder was probably not a good idea,
but my science teacher noticed I was almost falling asleep in class.
I doubt this would be accepted today.
A twelve year old making a potentially explosive substance...
My friend and I did get the mix right after a few mistakes.

Now,
 I help teach my niece.

Process is different.

She approaches things in ways I don't

More orderly than chaotic.

Even now I am learning,
but I do try to teach her to be random.

Humour comes through again in your writing, and we never stop learning. Helping others to learn is even better. And we all learn in different ways. My Dad had a degree in physics and maths, he could never teach me maths. My brain wouldn't pick up what his was trying to convey.
