Write for yourself

Write for yourself

A Poem by Jon Roggie

Considering my random ways,
it should be obvious why I say this.

Just the way I go about it.

Feel your words.
If there is nothing there why bother?

Find a connection.

I realize this is nothing new.
Preaching to the choir is a phrase which comes to mind.

The reason I say this is you can tell.

You can feel when someone is going through the motions.

The writing feels like an exercise.

Where is the fun in that?

and "exercise" is not so much fun to read...it is a workout.
but natural writing with purpose and meaning, that which comes from real inspiration to do it...

that is good...

Sean Connery's Forrester in the film said "why is it that the best writing we do is the writing we do for ourselves"---good line.

I think this is why some writers try stuff under a pseudonym. It gives them some freedom.
