A great wall

A great wall

A Poem by Jon Roggie

"We shall build this wall."
What?
"Something to prove the resilience of our people."
It is a few closet doors with hinges,
 and when did I get a voice-over?
"A simple citizen has already started."
I am just slapping something together.
I don't want the dogs to scratch the screen door.
"Unwilling to suffer random vandalism,
   one man has begun."
To be honest,
I am just making a spot for my mom.
A place where she can have a cup of coffee in the morning.
"Fearing for the life of his own mother."
Really?
  Let's try this.
Using materials on hand,
  I built a simple barrier.
Covering part of the patio.
It is around ninety six square feet.
I even made it so the rain will flow under the panels.
"Environmental concerns were the center of the design."
Groan.....
