A smile

A smile

A Poem by Jon Roggie

Maybe a laugh.
Even a dismissing shake of the head.
You heard something.

It might not have been what I meant,
but somehow the words caught your attention.

It is easy to speak,
 words flowing,
   stepping across the meaning.
Losing what was meant to be heard.

Sometimes you see a smile.
  Noticing your attempt at humor.
You also might see a frown,
after all words can be serious.

Sometimes you see the tears,
 reflecting your soul.
