I write nonsense

I write nonsense

A Poem by Jon Roggie

Feeling a bit of a mood swing.
Starting to notice little things,
 and they irritate me.

Might seem less positive.

Not me,
and I do try to stay positive,
but some comments seem less than helpful.

Now,
some would think I have felt insulted.
A few words directed towards me with less than friendly feelings.
This is not the case.

The writer should be able to learn.
 Play with various styles,
  and in the current day,
    play with oddball fonts,
or line placements.

For those holding onto formal styles,
 only because they seem classy,
the words need to have meaning.

Otherwise,
the lines wrote might as well be a limerick on a bathroom stall.

Pausing again, and leaving a strawberry

Precious strawberries
'I write nonsense'
Jon Roggie,
Honest input is great. Unkind, spiteful; not so much. Well I liked this piece a lot. It was just refreshing to read a little essay of honest narration and inner thinking. You come across really well and bring a pondering, a considering. What do we want to portray and can we pay attention and simply receive what our hearts-minds tell us. It will happen.
Great one,
Blessings,
Kathy

I am not sure which you are demeaning
I am actually inclined to them both--yes yes I know, that is my problem but still I appreciate them both

Sometimes I feel I have read better on those bathroom walls...
I could add some limericks here, but will refrain...
Meaning sometimes does get lost with form.
We become, as readers, too conscious of that form ...
it is like me reading a student essay and getting lost in editing instead of being able to read for content.
Yes, we write, we learn, we write, we get feedback, we learn....mostly about ourselves in the process.

Whether an elaborately structured classic ode, or a few words chalked on a wall, matters not to me, and I totally agree that a writer should be able to learn, to experiment, and just as importantly, enjoy the whole creative process.

Since fairly early childhood, I have read and enjoyed all manner of poetry. But as you rightly say, the words need to have meaning, otherwise a poem becomes little more than an exercise in egocentricity; and I very quickly become bored with such self indulgence. :))

Yes, exactly, otherwise it is meaningless.

Agreed. Hit the ten character rule.
I saw poetry on the bathroom walls in my time.

I enjoyed your words and thoughts. Hard to be positive always my friend. At least once daily, I want to get in my truck, go west and never return. But I can't. Hello Jon, I hope you are doing well my friend. I am saving money. Maybe California, next year.

i hope you can and you are welcome Jon.
There are times for formal and frilly. But the world needs some fun nonsense too. How dull if we were all alike, don’t you agree Mr. Tortoise?

Indeed Pixie.
Tortoises are great for giving the straight line.
I would have written this upside down and told people to focus.
Cos lets face it, we've got plenty of time on our hands.
I like insignificant things, like politicians and such.

You showed this to Boris Johnson, and he beat me to it. Going out now coming in.
Sometimes it is fun to write about silly or insignificant things, and just experiment. It will get you out of your shell, and may lead to new ideas or originality! It is also great for the new writer; is so much less intimidating.
