We waved our handkerchiefs

We waved our handkerchiefs

A Poem by Jon Roggie

We had heard the rumors,
and had our share of doubts.
How would he be able to conduct?
The music froze us to our seats.
We could hear what he never would.
A gift given.
Knowing he could not hear the applause,
 we waved our handkerchiefs.

This piece is so beautiful Jon. I know it isn't what you were writing about, but it reminded me of the wonder and awe young me felt, when I saw a concert on tv of the wonderful percussionist Evelyn Glennie, who is completely deaf.
In an interview, she was asked about never hearing her own music, to which she replied "I will never hear what the audience does, and the
audience will never feel it like me.

I am trying to remember where he conducted this. Words were inspired by the will to create.

You did well. A outstanding poem my friend.
Beethoven, perhaps?

sometimes there are those who give us so much without having any idea just how much.

Of course.

I feel those who create can't help themselves.
