Dominance

Dominance

A Poem by Jon Roggie

Just to be clear,
I will be talking about one of my dogs.
Thinking about it,
that might not sound any better.

At least 13,
 and overweight,
she thinks she rules the world.

She can't read,
so I can get away with this.

Walks out to the yard,
 and barks.

Announcing her presence.
She is in control of her little part of the world,
and makes sure any other dog in the neighborhood knows.

Looks up,
and indicates she is ready to return to the house.

Her job is done.

Now,
 she expects her treat.

She knows she is the boss.
