Why be normal?

Why be normal?

A Poem by Jon Roggie

From the start,
 I have to give credit.
The title originates from a bumper sticker.
I refuse to say which year I first saw it.
None of your business.

Moving along,
 but you must admit,
this is not the way most people start a conversation.

How do we define normal?

I fear it has become drifting along with group ideals.

Simple to be converted.

The more assertive the line,
  easier to follow along.

Now,
  back to the bumper sticker.

Someone knew that line would stick.
   Yes,
I threw in a very weak pun.
They knew some of us prefer to think for ourselves.

I must apologize.
 I went on a ramble.
   You know,
it is my normal state of mind.
