So many storiesA Poem by Jon Roggie
Friend gave a request.
She wanted one about stone mermaids, each showing their grief. Now, I will be the first to say, the old stories hurt. A mermaid wanted to trade her tail, for a pair of legs. She wanted to walk along the shore. Something she had never done before. Yes, she got her wish, losing her voice in the bargain, but many forget the other part. Each step was on razors. Leaving a trail of blood, she finally sits. Silent. Someone has to remember the story.
