Hospital trips become a vacation

Hospital trips become a vacation

A Poem by Jon Roggie

Story of the summer,
  and stretching into the fall.

When the appointments start growing,
you make the best of it.

Book a room.
  Place has and indoor pool,
    and a decent breakfast.

Always stop at the zoo.
  The staff,
and the animals are starting to recognize us.

I know the tortoises are starting to give me a look.

Planning little side-trips,
  even if many never happen.

Each trip planned around a few appointments,
never knowing how long they might last.

A chance to brush off the nervous feeling,
  while remembering how to smile.

The tortoise recognizing kin?

Maybe. Been seeing the one in my profile for the past few years.
I really enjoyed the journey of your words Jon, and you are correct, appointments become a blur the further along the road we walk and the walk takes a little more time...I do hope the tortoise recognised a fellow journeyman and was perhaps thinking of what he or she would write of theirs.
May the appointments give you a little more time in between to enjoy the scenery.

You make of life what you can. After waiting, why not go some place you can walk, and see, instead .. read more
I liked the places and the thoughts in the poetry. You gave glances of places and things in your words. The flow of thoughts led to logical ending. Thank you Jon for sharing the amazing poetry.

I need to do a few edits. Otherwise, a simple view of an ongoing life.
