Words are meant to lift

Words are meant to lift

A Poem by Jon Roggie

Words are meant to lift.
Give a glimpse of what could be reached.

Lately,
most of the words are brutal.

Attacks made with only a touch of reason.

No reason to choose a side.
 Common pattern.

I am a simple person.

My words might have a touch of sadness,
but I try to bring hope.

Words are meant to lift.

Beautiful poem, if your words are sad it is because there seems to be so much sadness around us lately. At least you try to bring hope through your words, l am sure that warms many hearts.

Back again, my friend? We can only try to bring hope, if even a little.
Kind words do lift you up, nice poem!

Thank you.
"Attacks made with only a touch of reason."

Gotta wonder if that's directed to someone here. No matter, I agree. Some folks justify being hateful by calling themselves "brutally honest". I call b******t. It's just straight up meanness. I've told many people some hard truths where hate was not the driving force, 'course some folks still walked away mad, but when the truth hurts, some will always get defensive first.
I really like the message of this piece and more need to read and commit to memory like a mantra.

More of a family thing. Still, it does carry over.
and your words do give hope, Jon...most definitely.

As do yours, my friend.
Yours do, Jon, because even in the sadness there is connection in understanding.
