One of those days, Part VII

One of those days, Part VII

A Story by Jon Roggie

I realize this might be starting to sound egotistical.
The hardest part is learning how to manage your ego.
In my defense,
 I was already distracted.
I should have known I couldn't walk away.
The three grand dames join us at our table,
 and wait for an answer.
The child watching doesn't help.
I don't believe in stage fright.
"Little Fesili is my niece."
She really didn't like being called little.
I could feel her stare.
Julian pats my hand,
 and adds to my depression.
"Yes, her mother stopped by.
Mentioned you would be looking after her."
You have got to be kidding me.
"She also said it would be appreciated if we let her hear your stories,
at least if it wasn't too late."
Manatua.
"She said you needed to get to know each other."
"Fesili looks like a dear.
 You can read first tonight.
We will make sure she has a proper dinner."
Forget stage fright.
This has turned into a set up.
This is why Memory does not seem fonder.

I really like the cafe scene and the promise of storytelling. Sort of makes me think of Poetry cafes.

It seemed natural. It was this or a bar. I wouldn't be allowed to take a child into a bar.

makes sense :)
Interesting world you have created Jon. A distinctly female world that Jon is currently moving through.

The story Café is clever, especially given our current venue. Prodding Jon for stories seems like a valuable endeavour.
