One of those days, Part VA Story by Jon Roggie
Have you ever seen someone experiencing something completely new?
When it is something good, you can't help yourself. You just smile. I take my little companion to a place of stories. To be honest, that is the name. A Place of Stories. I know it might seem a touch cliche, but it is a coffee shop. I would appreciate if you didn't groan. Now, I am a regular, but the proprietors are losing their patience. Luckily, a little waif of a child will deflect a touch of their displeasure. I remember to tell her her name before we enter. She gives me a look, but stays quiet. I try not to worry. When you enter the Story, it is like coming home. Part of the reason I get yelled at upon arrival. "Jon! Where have you been?" As a side note, here about I am known as Jon Tala. Using my normal method of courage, I immediately place the child in front of me, and approach the counter. Honestly, you would be surprised how often this works. "Marion, I apologize. I have been preoccupied." The questioning look is a masterful mixture. "Who is this little one?" The raised eyebrow is a thing of beauty. "A friend reached out to me, and asked for a favor. This is Fesili." Normally, you can imagine the immediate questions. I rush forward into the fray. "By chance, would you be able to create a pair of hot chocolates? Also, I seem to smell some of Anne's famous oatmeal cookies baking..." My little friend's large eyes actually help sell this. I hate to admit it, but it is fun to improvise.
