One of those days, Part II

One of those days, Part II

A Story by Jon Roggie

I realize I can't hide.
Eventually, I will hear a knock on my door.
Plus, I am out of coffee,
and the cupboards are a little bare.
One pack of ramen will not last forever.
I find my colorless hoodie.
The one I can usually fade into the background with,
and sneak out the alleyway door.
Yeah.
I didn't think it would work either.
"Tala.  We have to talk."
I cringe while turning around,
and am startled to see her standing alone.
"Manatua.  What a surprise."
"I thought I gave you enough foreshadowing."
I attempt a glare,
but we have known each other for too long.
"We walk?"
"Yes, we walk."
"You will tell me what is expected of me?"
"Yes.  As usual, you won't like it."
"As usual, I don't have a choice?"
She gives me a smile.
"Yes, and as usual, you will try."
I think the day may be going downhill from here.

I love how you've introduced these characters and created some mystery around them
