One of those days, Part I

One of those days, Part I

A Story by Jon Roggie
"

Work in progress

"
I remember the fire burning low, and the sounds of chains clinking.  Hearing a soothing voice offering and invitation....
My eyes open wide.
Shake my head, and can't help but wonder,
"Why is that my morning wake-up?"

I should be used to it by now.

Set my feet upon the floor, and savor the chill.
Another reason to enjoy the shower, at least if I am in time for a touch of warm water.

Sometimes,
the dream wakes me early enough,
but not always.

Memory likes to play games,
and she can be a touch mean.

I suspect she thinks I am trying to ignore her

I hope for the best.

Still dark outside,
but there is a shade of rose on the horizon.
She might be playing nice today,
but I have my suspicions.

I suspect a darker intent.

To be honest,
it would be easier if Memory acted alone.

My suspicions are confirmed.
The water is steaming.

Now,
some would say I am reading too much into this.
Maybe I am even being a bit paranoid.

They don't keep the same company.
