Today I cook

Today I cook

A Poem by Jon Roggie

Once in awhile,
you have to take a break.

I notice when I am getting out of sync.

Cooking lets me slip away.

This might sound like a ramble,
but it is more prep.

Today,
it will be a chile verde.

I realize some might have a clue.

Just to give a basic description,
 it is a pork stew.

I have the meat,
but I have to pick up a few ingredients.

Fresh tomatillo, onions, jalapenos, pablano.

Yes, a gringo can cook something like this.

I realize most have no clue what I am talking about.

In my long-winded way,
I am trying to say find what helps you.
Do the little things which brings a touch of peace.

I have given a clue about myself.
Today, I will cook.

I do that too :) I rarely cook, really cook, ya know, but once in a while I'll pull out a cook book and try something I've never tried before .

Of course, and he is being mourned by friends across the Southwest.
