Step out of sync

This is what happens.

You walk,

 living in your own rhythm.

Might even be the same song,

 but someone always has a different take.

The music changes while it becomes your own.

Oddly enough,

 some of the choruses sound the same,

  and many find a common refrain.

Steps slowly get in sync.
