Taking care of myself

Taking care of myself

A Poem by Jon Roggie

A friend asked a question.
Wondered if I had ever had to take care of someone.
I can understand the question,
and didn't feel offense.

It still made me think.

I realized the question,
 and I wonder.

When do I get to stop?

I already know the answer.

I will always take care of others,
 and let myself fall.

Some of us are still unable.
We can't turn away.

One thing I have noticed.

We bring smiles.
We create memories.
We help.

I mentioned falling.

We have been falling for a long time.

We have indeed Jon. As long as their is life left in us and we have family, friends or loved ones, there is no end to caring. The less we are able to fend for ourselves doesn't mean an end to caring, if anything it means to care more. Once you care, you always care.

Just the way some of us are built.
many of us try to put ourselves first, but we don't have that kind of heart---others take precedent ....we just feel too selfish putting our needs ahead of others. just doesn't feel right.
