Seeing the story

Seeing the story

A Poem by Jon Roggie

"Wake up!"
I am awake.
"Why do you keep nodding your head?"
I am seeing the story.
"Why don't you just tell it?"
Because there is more than the words.
"Tell me."
I will try to explain.
Stories are not only the words.
They have a life of their own.
We watch from a distance.
Now,
if somehow we find a way to share?
"Me?"
Yes.  You can tell your own stories.
"When?"
Always.
She walks away.
 Turns her head back.
"I get it, but you still have to tell me more stories."
Ever,
 and ever,
   little one.

All in fun. Campfire story, and it should end with something to dream about.

Sleep well.
This really does take me back to the wide eyed adventure of discovering reading for pleasure as a kid. I was laid up for about four months as a kid when I got knocked down and it seemed everyone and their cat come to visit me with comic books, commando adventures and even school books. The first one I read was a group of short stories by some nobody called Roald Dahl. I'm sure it was he who opened my mind to the enjoyment reading can bring, as well as the urge to read just one more chapter before bed. It was probably the reason I tried my hand at it many years later.
Hoping the tales continue my friend.

i like the stories of poetry...they are felt more than told...

but we always want to feel more...even when we grow up.
