Only if you let me sleep

Only if you let me sleep

A Poem by Jon Roggie

She smiles,
 and gives me a wink.

Hand is hiding behind her back,
and I am sure a few fingers are crossed.

Sigh.

I don't usually play these tricks,
 but I am tired.

"There are five elements.

Easiest to show is air.
Only needed to be added to water."

I let a cloud grow.

"Earth is the next.
  She accepts the gift."

Now I am pushing it.
I feel tired.

"Time is one forgotten.
  Always waiting."

I need to sleep,
but I know she won't let me.

"Fire is often mistaken."

I let light shine.

Rushing things,
  a plant grows.

"All of this is needed."

She curls beside me.

Smiles,
  and says,
"Time for a nap."
