Ego

Ego

A Poem by Jon Roggie

If it was ego,
it might as well be tossed in the trash.

Taking a breath,
 and,
   I know I started this.

Time to wonder.

If all you are doing is hiding,
 behind a few flimsy words,
how do you expect to move forward?

Trying to move past it.

I have a mad amount of ego.

More a case of putting them into perspective. Learn from each write. Move forward.
Ah ego, that confusing word that stings so many. I think we all have an ego monster buried within us, as well as a modesty monster that keeps it in check, most of the time. I have been told by more than a few that my self deprecation is also quite egotistical. I disagree, but just to see how they react, I always reply "You're mistaken, I'm not egotistical, I'm just that awesome." :)

I have always been accused of being egotistical by people who are in fact, just that.
