Fox and the grapes

Fox and the grapes

A Poem by Jon Roggie

Gather around the fire,
and I will share a tale.
One heard before,
but with a different view.

A fox scavenging,
looking for a meal,
spies a vine of grapes.

The fruit within reach is long gone.
Birds sit out of reach,
eating a meal.

Longs for a bite.

Stories say the fox wanders away,
claiming the fruit was sour.

Never left.

Waited.

Had many a meal.

Who knows if it was fowl or grapes?
