All in the timing

All in the timing

A Poem by Jon Roggie

I have been a bit moody.
Check that.
I have forced myself to be civil.

I don't want to be around anyone,
but that is a luxury.

Grasping the seconds,
those where I can be alone.

Still,
there are those reminders.
Ones which help you move past the self-pity.

Walk in to see my mom watching the Rugrats.
Niece is sharing the couch,
and her at the old age of fourteen.

Watched for a moment.

I had to smile.

For a moment,
the world feels good.

Walked in at the best time.

Totally get he opening of this Jon. Xmas day and boxing day I will be forcing myself to be civil, with the pressure of family time, when I would much rather be at home, doing unxmassy things, away from the forced pleasantries. I try not to be anti-social, but it is forced. Solitude is my friend and it is only a problem for others. Although the moment you captured would have exactly the same effect on me. Sometimes, it is good for this recluse to be amongst things, rather than my usual selfish ways. And you are spot on, despite the misgivings, something always happens that makes a wonderful memory. Wonderful piece.
